Topic: Envoy Gateway Project Update
Speaker: Arko Dasgupta, Tetrate & Alice Wasko, Ambassador Labs
Join us as we explore the major improvements and features introduced in Envoy Gateway’s v0.5 and v0.6 releases. As the project nears closer to the point of General Availability, it is important to understand some of the standout changes that contribute to its stability, versatility, and extensibility. Advancements have been made in to configuration and control APIs, and additional features have been added that empower users to customize and monitor the entire system.
Topic: Envoy Gateway: An in-Depth Guide of Its Benefits, Use Cases, and Features
Speaker: Ekansh Gupta, Zeta
Envoy Gateway is currently undergoing active development. Yet, its bootstrapped, ready-to-use configurations and recently added new features such as traffic routing (HTTP, TCP, UDP, TLS, gRPC), rate limiting, request Authentication, and enhanced observability for the ControlPlane and the underlying EnvoyProxy instances make it an exceptional option for managing Envoy Proxy as a standalone or Kubernetes-based application gateway. In this session, we will navigate through demonstrations of the envoy gateway’s numerous features and examine various use cases where the envoy gateway is an ideal choice. Come join us if you for a ready-to-use guide for the envoy gateway and to explore its features in a live setup!
Topic: Envoy Gateway End User Threat Model Report: Raising Awareness of Gateway API Security
Speaker: James Callaghan, ControlPlane
As we embrace the proliferation of microservice-based architectures in the cloud-native space, and DevOps teams face the challenge of choosing between many similar technologies, simplicity in setup and configuration becomes paramount. The Gateway API project was introduced with the goal of eventually replacing the Kubernetes Ingress resource. Envoy Gateway is configured by Gateway API resources, and serves as an intuitive and feature-rich wrapper over Envoy Proxy. ControlPlane was engaged by the CNCF to produce an Envoy Gateway Threat Model with a view of open sourcing it to the community. In this talk we’ll present our findings, providing an analysis of Envoy Gateway’s design components and their capabilities (at version: dev-latest) through a threat-driven approach. While we don’t endorse running a dev-latest version in production, our goal is to stimulate discussion and provide a framework that gives confidence in deploying Envoy Gateway as an edge proxy in a Kubernetes cluster.
